Description of The Crumbling Shore

xxxxxThe Crumbling Shore encompasses The Northwest Shore, The Ash Cove, The Heathlands and part of North Turner Road. Which is the entirety of the Western Coast of Safe Haven, and it's also completely outside of the safezone.
Locations: SH01, SH02, SH03, SH04

Gauntlet Strengths: SH01 +1 die or +2 at the locus, SH02 0 bonuses or negatives, SH03 +1 die or +2 at the locus, SH04 -1 die

Description of The Shadow side of The Northwest Shore

xxxxxThe shattered road seems to be a feasting ground for small nature spirits that are leeching essence from the older, but sorely damaged road spirit. As each tiny seedling grows, blades of grass, various kinds of wild vegetation, saplings and more are taking hold, ripping the asphalt road apart.
xxxxxThe air seems thicker here. Occasionally, a small rock or pebble will move of it’s own volition. The wind seems to move in whatever direction it feels like moving rather than the keenly organized patterns on the other side of the Veil. The forest seems impossibly dark. There is very little movement that can be seen beyond the first few trees. The boughs of the surface trees move in the winds, but nothing more can be seen beyond that.
xxxxxJust beyond the shadows of the trees, the sounds of animals chattering, rustling in the undergrowth, flitting through the branches and more seems to be taking place. A beautiful sight, and no reason whatsoever that the shadows should be so thick, but the sensation of being closely watched is one that cannot be shaken.

Description of The Shadow Side of The Ash Cove

xxxxxThe scenic route here has not been scenic in a while. Lesser spirits of nature, plants more to the point, are struggling to regain foothold where humanity had been not so long ago.
xxxxxThe earth spirits stay very close to the cliff side where there is some resonance of leftover essence from the greater spirit known as Cliff Face, however, he is no longer present here, having fallen into the ocean after centuries of existence. The brood he once commanded are now scrambling to protect one another from the encroaching forest and animal spirits.
xxxxxWhere the wall exists on the other side, the spirits have become curious, as most of the fence’s spirits are still unawakened. These sleeping spirits are being picked at, is what appears to be occurring here.
xxxxxThe road itself is the same as in the Northwest Shore, though not as severely. It is slowly being consumed in its slumber by newly arriving nature and elemental spirits. Given its sleeping state, it is blissfully unaware of its gradual demise.

Description of The Shadow side of The Heathlands

xxxxxIn the area now known as The Heathlands there were once spirits of all varieties, there are none now. Earth spirits that resemble rolling salt licks are prevalent here, as are spirits of decay, and the smell coincides with that.
xxxxxRotting wood, stagnant water and dead vegetation seem to cover the ground. Only the elementals seem at home here, at least in the form of earth and air. The winds whip around, carrying the smell of mold and wood rot over the spongy ground which is devoid of snow, unlike it’s mirror in the physical plane.
xxxxxIn the distance, beyond the touch of the salt spirits stands an enormous oak tree spirit. It’s branches reach far out from its massive trunk. Should one approach the tree, a feeling of dread begins to bubble up inside, gradually reaching a crescendo that would push most sane beings away from it.

Description of The Shadow side of North Turner Road

xxxxxThis area continues to be bombarded with spirits of salt and water, gradually attempting to eat at the massive structure known as The WALL. Farm animal spirits live and move around this area until you reach it.
xxxxxStone Oak controls the area outside of The WALL, but beyond that point, The WALL itself lays claim to the territory.
xxxxxTHE WALL is a conglomeration of spirits that work together to keep what they do not wish inside - out. They are autonomous and work together as an enormous brood of magaths, earth elementals and technological spirits focusing on a single goal: Keeping everything they can OUT of Safe Haven.
xxxxxMost often, THE WALL works with the City Spirit, however, they do not work for her or follow her orders. They follow their own directives, and while more often than not they're doing what she would ask of them, it is merely a coincidence.

The Crumbling Shore's Spirits

Stoneoak.png

  • Stone Oak - The Brood Master of The Crumbling Shore
    • The Wisps - A glimmer of glowing green lights dancing in Stone Oak's branches.
    • Rumbler - A large pile of stones that will pull together to create the rough form of a person. Stone Oak's Protector, and it's quite capable of movement.
      • Marbles and Thunder - Two small round rocks, about the size of a bowling ball apiece. They're known to be little troublemakers.

Stone Oak's Brood

xxxxxThis brood does not interact well with people from the other side of the Gauntlet. It has been notated that anyone attempting audience with this brood should proceed with caution!
xxxxxThere are many spirits that make their home near The Crumbling Shore. There are some younger spirits who seek the protection of Stone Oak, but there are also those that once served Cliff Face. Spirits of various elements (Earth, Water and Air), animals, plants and more serve Stone Oak. Those attempting to approach the enormous Magath find themselves feeling more than a little uncomfortable.

Stone Oak

xxxxxAs shown in the picture above. Stone Oak is an enormous magath of earth and plant choirs.
xxxxxStone Oak himself has had little to no contact with people, werewolves, immortals or mages, though he knows about them. He is not very fond of the "fleshlings" that exist on the other side of the Gauntlet from him.
xxxxxTHIS SPIRIT NPC MAY ONLY BE PLAYED BY STAFF!

The Wisps

xxxxxThe Wisps are small orbs that flutter around through Stone Oak's branches. They speak in a "sing-song" voice, and exist in the dozens.

xxxxxDefense: 3

xxxxxInfluences:Plants 1 (Strengthen)
xxxxxNumina: Fearstruck & Heal

xxxxxAttitude: These spirits are very small, but playful. Like the old stories of fae wisps, they are exceptionally mischievous. They are also extremely protective of Stone Oak, who shares essence with them. There are dozens of these spirits flitting around Stone Oak’s Branches, and they have a swarm mentality.

Rumbler

xxxxxRumbler is the one spirit that will tolerate the "fleshlings" that Stone Oak so strongly dislikes. He acts as Stone Oak's second in command. He's made up of several small boulders and other stone matter that whirl around like a dervish.
xxxxxThe sheet below may be used for role-playing purposes:

xxxxxName: Rumbler
xxxxxType: Earth Elemental Spirit
xxxxxRank: 3

xxxxxPower: 7
xxxxxFinesse: 6

xxxxxInfluences: Earth 3 (Strengthen, Manipulate and Control)
xxxxxNumina: Camouflage, Elemental Immunity (Earth), Final Strike, Hallucinations, Innocuous, Manipulate Element (Earth)
xxxxxAttitude: Rumbler is exceptionally direct and loyal. Stone Oak has taken over his brood, thus he follows Stone Oak without question. He is much more tolerant of humans than Stone Oak, and more often than not acts as Stone Oak’s voice when dealing with them. He, too, has adopted the word “fleshling” when speaking to or of humans.

Marbles

xxxxxMarbles is a large boulder, and is rarely ever seen without her brother, Thunder.
xxxxxThe sheet below may be used for role-playing purposes:

xxxxxName: Marbles

xxxxxInfluences: Earth 2 (Strengthen & Manipulate)

xxxxxNumina: Camouflage, Elemental Immunity (Earth), Innocuous, Manipulate Element (Earth)
xxxxxAttitude: Marbles comes off as very innocent, but most would not be deceived by her. She is, in fact, very astute at studying creatures and people. She will often put herself in positions to keep an eye on someone Stone Oak is concerned with. However, if she takes a liking to someone, she is quick to volunteer as their liaison to Stone Oak, since he will not deal with humans himself. Her memory is excellent, and while she cannot speak for the brood, she rarely forgets anything important (unless she is interfered with).

Thunder

xxxxxThunder is a large boulder, and is rarely ever seen without his sister, Marbles.
xxxxxThe sheet below may be used for role-playing purposes:

xxxxxName: Thunder
xxxxxType: Earth Elemental Spirit
xxxxxRank: 2

xxxxxPower: 3
xxxxxFinesse: 3

xxxxxInitiative: 6
xxxxxDefense: 3

xxxxxInfluences: Earth 2 (Strengthen & Manipulate)

xxxxxNumina: Camouflage, Elemental Immunity (Earth), Innocuous, Manipulate Element (Earth)
xxxxxAttitude: Thunder is extremely quiet. He does not speak unless spoken to, though he’s not afraid to make noise whenever it suits him. He will almost never be found without his “twin” Marbles. He is exceptionally attached to her post-eotw. When he actually does speak, what he says tends to be important in a fashion that not listening to him could be detrimental to someone’s health.
